Dreamer Wellness Center Employs Mental health counselors and licensed professionals who treat cognitive, behavioral, and emotional aspects of mental health and substance use conditions

With our revolutionary approach to counseling, we utilize experiential therapies including Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, Music therapy, Nature Therapy, and more. This unique mental health service includes the opportunity to utilize a 25-acre horse farm that houses Harvey the Farm Dog, 29 chickens, 7 ducks, 16 horses, and more during the therapeutic process.

One of the fundamental premises of experiential therapy is that one's perception determines one's behavior. Through various therapeutic modalities, the individual is presented with situations, people, animals, or objects that allow them to re-experience and release repressed negative emotions, creating the opportunity for them to feel positive feelings like love, peace, and relief, ultimately changing their perception of reality.

Equine Therapy

Experience the therapeutic nature of horses through our Equine-Assisted Therapy program located at Dreamer Farm in Mequon, Wisconsin. Horses are known for their ability to enhance physical, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive skills in individuals struggling with emotional and behavioral difficulties. In this ground-based therapeutic approach, the horses are utilized alongside a mental health specialist and equine specialist to promote healing, independence, emotional regulation, and much more.

Horticulture and Nature Therapy

Similar to Wilderness Therapy, our horticulture therapy program emphasizes the benefits of nature specifically through gardening. Horticulture and Nature Therapy provide individuals the opportunity to interact with and observe the beauty of life's ups and downs - how nature can heal itself and continue on, despite whatever setbacks may have been encountered.

Canine Therapy

Because dogs often mirror the feelings of the individual, canine therapy can help teach emotion management. Usually, the calmer the individual is, the more agreeable the dog becomes. Canine Therapy can provide immense healing, with children and teens often responding particularly well to canine therapy and developing trust and strong bonds with the dogs.

Art Therapy

art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, relieve stress, improve symptoms of anxiety and depression, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and cope with physical illness or disability

Music Therapy

Music therapy provides avenues of communication and helps individuals express themselves. Music is used to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Therapy includes creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music.

Social Skills Therapy

Social Skills Therapy includes fun, interactive experiences that encourage individuals to interact with their peers. This therapy features skill-building activities like role playing, play skills, conversation skills and emotional skills, active listening, thinking before we speak, speaking clearly not shouting, group work; non-verbal skills, identifying triggers, gestures and eye contact, listening with understanding and empathy, and more.

Social Skill Therapy can also be used for adults with high anxiety or other barriers that make them feel uncomfortable in social settings. Whether you may be feeling increased anxiety, or just want to improve your ability to remain centered in social situations, this may be a helpful therapy for you!

We also offer Team Building Workshops for groups of any kind!
